Key updates to Times Atlas include:-
• New 1:5,000,000 map of Alaska and NW Canada
• Estimated 20,000 plus updates including 3,500 changes to names
• Abandoned settlement category added
General updates
• New satellite images of the continents
• Revision of all national and socio-economic statistics

Geopolitical changes include:-
• Division of Serbia and Montenegro into separate independent countries
• New national capital of Myanmar (Burma), called Nay Pyi Taw, currently serving as a joint capital with Yangon (Rangoon)
• Temporary capital of Brades in Montserrat following abandonment of capital Plymouth following volcanic eruption
• New capital of Pacific nation of Palau – Melekeok
• Secession of St-Barthelemy and St-Martin from Guadeloupe
